Starting from 2006, the Company has decided to adhere to the system of Certification of Sustainable Management of Poplar Groves according to PEFC standards - and today, it runs about 350 ha of certified surface. The programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification relies on the Pan-European Criteria, the internationally accepted intergovernmental guidelines. It, therefore, identifies 6 criteria with which a wood cultivation can be defined as sustainable from an environmental point of view. A cultivation system, respectful of spontaneous flora and fauna and human labour, is adopted by the company and described in a management manual, and subsequently, punctually applied and made the object of multi-level registrations and controls. The wood produced in this way can be certified and sold to industries that produce PEFC certified wood or paper products. Consumers who buy such products are thus aware that they respect the environment and contribute to the local development of sustainable economies.
